Libby is a petite black tufted Capuchin monkey with too much personality for one animal. At a young age of 12 years her intelligence equals that of a 3 year old human child. Due to the nature of her prior environment she eventually lost interest in her day-to-day normal home life. We discussed the problem with her owner and we all eventually concluded that she would be better off coming to live with us.
Before her previous family realized there were any behavioral issues with Libby she had developed serious emotional problems. She already showed signs of stress, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive habits and was now harming her own body. Our sanctuary knew Libby needed immediate attention.
We formulated a specific treatment plan designed to stimulate Libby’s intelligence, redirect her harmful habits, encourage her social skills and challenge her sharp intellect and memory.
Now that she is with us at the sanctuary Libby gets her toys changed every day, and has her food served in a different, challenging way each day. She is never left alone and always has something with her to keep her mind busy. She has grown leaps and bounds since the implementation of this treatment plan. She is a smart little cookie who loves to interact with people and play with challenging toys.
We are still investing in Libby’s rehabilitation and well being, and invite you to share in this journey by making a donation to assist us. Thank you!
